[This is Day 3 for the Aussies; Day 5 for myself in PNG]
Every morning the guys get together (so do the girls) to have our Quiet Times with God. Well this morning to start our time, we did a 4 ½ minutes ab workout. I was able to keep up and do all the repetitions, but as exercise time moved on, my legs weren't coming up quite as high as they did at the beginning. I think it was supposed to make my head clear to spend time with God, and maybe it did :-)
On the 1st night that the Aussies were here, we played a game to get to know each other by thinking of an adjective that describes us and that started with the same letter as our first name (then we had to remember everyone's adjective-name combo, but that's not part of this story). We'll, it was hard for me to think of a word for myself, but just when it was my turn, I thought of Discovering Dan. And I really do like to find out (discover) new things.
Most of our crew after lunch on the chapel steps (UPNG) |
Today was the first time the Aussies got to see the UPNG campus and we spent 4 hours (plus lunchtime) walking around with the goal of sharing Christ with those we met. Now it's hard for to meet new people and to transition to share the Gospel with them, but I love getting to know my friends better... so I decided that instead of focusing on what I didn't like to do (and doing it anyway), I would make it my mission to Discover things about these new people I would meet and to help them Discover Jesus, who loves them very much.
It was so much fun! I was able to get to know 3 guys and share Christ with them, seeing Lindon pray & receive Christ and Ume recommit his life to Christ (Hillary already was a Christian).
Sharing brain storming ideas on how we could reach UPNG |
After our time on campus, we came back to our guest house and had another session where we brainstormed ideas how we could reach the UPNG campus (16,000 students) every year. It was a lot of fun!
Here's a photo or our PNG crew - Eva was at home (she doesn't join us in the evening because it's not safe for her to drive at night). We'll try to take another photo tomorrow or Sunday of everyone! Thanks for praying!
