[Today is Monday, and the end of today marks the half-way point for the team of Aussie Campus Crusade staff & students - day 6, with 6 to go]
For the past 6 days the Aussies have been talking and demonstrating how to MAWL. It sounds a bit brutal, but maybe that's why it's easy to remember. IT stands for:
- Model - The discipler shows the disciple how to do something
- Assist - The disciple does it a bit with the discipler jumping in to help
- Watch - The disciple does it all with the discipler watching
- Leave - The disciple does it all without the discipler
- MAWL everything that you want your discipels to do - Never do anything alone
This works for anything - big or small. Such as, how to share your faith, how to lead a discipeship group, how pray, how to have a quiet time, how to ...

Isaac Hitting the Target |
We did a little game where each group made a paper airplane and then through it at the target - we won, thanks to Elijah making a great airplane and Isaac gliding it to the target :-)
We've been looking at the life of Jesus and how he developed his ministry into a movement that has been growing for 2,000 years. He hit his target, and we are developing His ministry in Papua New Guinea, we also need to hit the target.

The chart that the PNG students filled in. |
We discovered that Jesus went through 5 phases as he grew his ministry into a movement, and we analyzed our ministry in the same way to see what phase we were in. We looked at what level were our students and what level did our activities cater to. It was very fascinating and it showed us that we seem to be doing well with Exposing people to the Gospel and letting God win them through us, but we are really lacking in building the students into Christ-centred labourers - it was very good that the students figured this out for themselves!

Very exciting: the PNG students analyzing their ministry! |
What excited me the most was how our staff and students really caught on and analyzed the ministry for themselves. Later, Isaac (our student president) told me that he's excited and is committed to making sure that the other students, who are not here this week, get briefed on what we're learning to move our ministry into a movement.
At the end of the day we had some worship together - the two teams (Aussie & PNG) are jelling together so very well - beyond my expectation! Thanks for praying!
