Pacific Propulsion Aussie Project - Day 8 - "Strategic Planning"

Today was a very big brain day.  So big that we all had the evening free to recuperate!  There were a couple hours of learning about strategic planning, and then a few hours to plan for our own ministry.

The PNG missionaries and students (& myself - I tried not to say much so that the plan would be theirs) all squeezed into the prayer room and went at it.
I am so proud of everyone!  The things they came up with were excellent - I'm very excited.  They first came up with their direction, where are they headed.  This is it:

Direction: "Students consistently growing in their faith and sharing it with others, with the intention of equipping and MAWLing them to become disciple-makers by the power of the Holy Spirit through prayer".  The only thing Lillian suggested later was that we add the phrase "to reach all 830+ people groups in PNG and beyond", inserted just before "by the power..."  Oh, and MAWLing is an acronym for Model, Assist, Watch, Leave and is how we help our disciples learn ministry skills.

Their 5 steps that they want to focus on to get to this goal, and the new things they want to develop for each step are (more pictures below):

  1. Prayer
    1. Prayer walks, praying for the lost
    2. Fasting
    3. Prayer together in the dorms
    4. Passing prayer requests around the whole movement
  2. Evangelism
    1. Use creative tools to share Christ with others (like Soularium, Perspective cards, and short films)
    2. Large Jesus Film showings outside at night on campus (3 or more/year)
    3. Students sharing testimonies more on campus & in churches
    4. Creative things to expose large amounts of people to the claims of Christ and to Student Life on campus
  3. Training
    1. Special mini-retreat days of training (some Saturdays?)
    2. Have a training portion in Splash (our weekly meeting)
    3. Have small specific trainings every month where students or missionaries show how to do something in ministry
    4. Time management!! (seriously needed)
  4. Multiplication (includes disciples who are discipling others who are discipling others...)
    1. Regular Movement Builder times (eg: fortnightly) - a Movement Builder is someone who is leading a discipleship group
    2. One-on-one discipleship
  5. Vision
    1. Talk about Student Life's common vision every week
    2. Encourage students to seek and pray for God's will for their lives
    3. Ensure that every student involved knows our common vision
We're all tired, but it's a satisfied tired!
Elton trying to take pictures of the sheets they wrote.

Showing a bit of our work (no, that's not glory coming out of my head)
Thanks for praying!!  The Aussies are here for 6 more days.
